Analysis of Dynamic Stress on a Running Motorcycle and Application of CAE 891363

Behavior of a running motorcycle is represented in part by the natural oscillation mode called weave, and that can include motorcycle motions after receiving external disturbances. This mode of motion can be influenced by such things as moments of inertia, tires, weight distribution, caster angle, trail, moments of inertia, and aerodynamic properties.
Simulation of an illustrative running motorcycle has been accomplished to analyze the effect of frame characteristics after receiving an impulse, by using shell structure FEM model. By analizing the effect of design parameters on the reaction pattern of motorcycle, the possible use of this technique for rationalization and efficiency in preliminary design can be illustrated.
