Fiber Optics Based IMU 901826

Advances in the field of fiber and integrated optics, as well as the availability of high-speed, high-density electronics, have lead to the development of small, low-cost fiber optic gyroscopes. These devices represent wide bandwidth rotation sensors that can be used in many different applications. The fiber optic gyro is targeted for use in flight control, attitude/heading reference, and other low- to medium-accuracy inertial measurement units. Higher-accuracy (navigation grade) sensors are also under development.
