Central Injection System - CFI - In 1.8 Liter Engines 931666

Central Fuel Injection- CFI is an engine management system composed of sensors, actuators and a control module. The system reads input information and calculates engine control parameters using system software.
Engine control outputs are performed based on these rapid calculations of input information. Fast processing rates and precise computer to engine synchronization are required to maintain proper control.

The system operates most often in closed-loop fuel control, which requires feedback from the exhaust gas oxygen sensor to the control module. Under this condition, the engine burns stoichiometric air/fuel ratio mixtures. Closed loop control optimizes emissions, driveability and fuel economy.
