Influence of Piston Design on Exhaust Gas Emissions of Gasoline Engines 952309

Different piston design steps affecting HC emissions will be shown. The way how changes of the crevice volume in the top land and ring area influence HC emissions of the cold and hot engine will be presented by comparison of measurements.
Another part of the investigations will reveal the influence of oil consumption on HC emissions but also how friction optimization contributes to emission improvement.
