Augmented Avionics Cooling for Existing Aircraft 961341

Existing tactical aircraft require advanced avionics upgrades to increase their usefulness and effective life. Presently, these aircraft cool electronics with air. Modern densely packaged avionics modules often require liquid cooling, low coolant temperatures, and increased cooling capacity. To avoid re-design of avionics modules or aircraft cooling systems, preliminary studies show that heat pumps can offer potentially cost-effective solutions.
