This discussion reviews connector design considerations including load conditions, thermal reactions, metallurgical compatability, design restrictions for both flanges and seals. A basic design approach is then set forth indicating the most effective way to meet the conditions existing for various common connector applications in today's aerospace industry. Sample hypothetical design requirements are solved by using formulae and a nomograph.
